What You’ll Do
Job title – Cabinet Maker
Responsibilities — Tasks
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches and specifications to determine work requirements
- Prepare layouts and take accurate measurements using measuring tools
- Measure, cut, shape and assemble wood, engineered wood and other materials
- Manufacture custom cabinets, millwork and architectural woodwork
- Build and assemble kitchen cabinets, vanities, closets, wall units and other custom millwork
- Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools to cut, shape and prepare components
- Assemble cabinet components using appropriate joints, fasteners, adhesives and hardware
- Install hinges, drawer slides, handles and other cabinet hardware
- Fit and adjust doors, drawers, panels and other components
- Inspect completed work to ensure accuracy, fit and quality standards
- Sand and prepare components for finishing
- Repair, modify and adjust cabinets and millwork as required
- Follow drawings and specifications to ensure finished products meet project requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work independently and as part of a production team
- Assist with on-site installation of cabinetry and millwork when required
